The Grammy Awards is an event that celebrates the success of the music industry. Here are some of my favorite categories of the Grammy Awards and who I feel has the best chance of winning.

Best New Artist: (Pictured)

Contenders: Arooj Aftab, Jimmie Allen, Baby Keem, FINNEAS, Glass Animals, Japanese Breakfast, The Kid LAROI, Arlo Parks, and Saweetie

Many of these artists were recognized this year. However, the three main contenders are Glass Animals, The Kid LAROI, and Olivia Rodrigo. However, Glass Animals and the Kid LAROI only had one major hit this year. All of Olivia Rodrigo’s songs on her album made it on the Billboard Hot 100. 2021 was Olivia Rodrigo’s year. The community loves her. Since people love her and her breakout year was so successful, I feel Olivia Rodrigo will win this award.  (WINNER – Olivia Rodrigo)

Album of the Year

Contenders: , Love for Sale by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, Justice (Triple Chucks Deluxe) by Justin Bieber, Planet Her (Deluxe) by Doja Cat, Happier Than Ever by Billie Eilish, Back of My Mind by H.E.R, Montero by Lil Nas X, Sour by Olivia Rodrigo, Evermore by Taylor Swift, and Donda by Kanye West.

This year under the Album of the Year category, we have many contenders. Many of these albums were extremely popular and had hit songs. However, the three albums who I believe have the best shot at winning are Happier Than Ever by Billie Eilish, Montero by Lil Nas X, and Sour by Olivia Rodrigo. I feel that Sour by Olivia Rodrigo will end up taking this award. This is because of the impact of this album. Many songs hit number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, such as “Driver’s License” and “Good 4 You”. Also, every song on that album was in the top thirty songs on the Billboard Hot 100. This song really impacted the music community and really kickstarted Olivia Rodrigo’s music career.  (WINNER – We Are by John Batiste)

Song of the Year:

Contenders: “Bad Habits” by Ed Sheeran, “A Beautiful Noise” by Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile, “Driver’s License” by Olivia Rodrigo, “Fight For You” by H.E.R, “Happier Than Ever” by Billie Eilish, “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat ft. SZA, “Leave the Door Open” by Silk Sonic,  “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” by Lil Nas X, “Peaches” by Justin Bieber ft. Daniel Caesar and Giveon, and “Right on Time” by Brandi Carlile

This award is for the songwriters of the song. Therefore, I decided to listen closely to the lyrics of the songs as well as the rhythms and melodies of the songs. When I listened to the songs, the lyrics that spoke the most to me were in “Happier Than Ever” by Billie Eilish. These lyrics stood out from the rest of the songs. Also, the rhythm and melody of the song was incredibly unique and different from the rest of the songs, which I enjoyed. The song also made it on the Billboard Hot 100. I feel “Happier Than Ever” will win Song of the Year.  (WINNER – “Leave the Door Open” by Silk Sonic)

Best Pop Duo and Group Performance:

Contenders: “I Get A Kick Out of You” by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, “Lonely” by Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco, “Butter” by BTS, “High Power” by Coldplay, and “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat Featuring SZA

With the increase in popularity of K-Pop, I feel “Butter” by BTS will win this award. With the groovy beat and the amazing vocals, this song surpassed the other songs listed in this category. BTS also dominated the K-Pop industry this year. Since there are many fans of BTS, I feel they will easily take this award.  (WINNER – “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat Featuring SZA)

There you have it. These are my favorite categories at the Grammy Awards and who I feel should and will win the awards. Tune in on April 3rd, 2022, on Paramount+ and CBS to see who wins. For more information visit
