Sports Update – September
September 21, 2022
Boys Varsity Football – Football season is in full swing! The varsity team has so far won against Lake Central (16-14) and Fenwick (25-22). Unfortunately, the team lost the Holy War against rival JCA in a well-played game (41-49). The varsity boys will play again this Friday against Marian Central Woodstock. Good Luck!
Girls Volleyball – The varsity girls are doing great so far in their competitive season. There have been quite a few injuries on the team, but they are pushing through! The girls have won against Stagg, Bishop McNamara, and St. Ignatius!
Boys Varsity Hockey – The varsity hockey team started their CCHL season off with a win against Notre Dame (6-0)! The team also won both games against Marmion (3-1) and Waubonsie Valley (6-3) at their preseason invitational games! The boys will play Mt. Carmel this Friday. Best of luck!
Band – Our marching Celtics are doing an amazing job with their show “Into the Machine”! The band received 2nd place at the Victor J. Andrew invitational as well as the General Effect Award! Their next invitational will be at Plainfield South on Saturday! Come out ad support our Marching Celtics!
Cross Country – The cross-country teams have been hard at work this season! Each team has improved at each meet, with their times decreasing. Their next meet is this Saturday at the Tinley Park Invitational.
Girls Tennis – The JV girls took 1st place at Oak Forest Quad, while the varsity girls were awarded 2nd place in their division! The tennis courts are also going to be renovated, which is very exciting.
Other sports – The boys and girls golf teams are also having a good season. The boys’ soccer team is having a rough start to the season, but we wish them luck on their many upcoming games! More sports are starting to practice for their competitive seasons, including: the dance team, cheer team, boys’ basketball, and girls’ basketball!
Great job so far, Celtics! We wish you the best of luck and hope that you do well in your games and competitions this season!
