I think it’s only appropriate that I’m wedged in a nasty writer’s block as I start this farewell letter. Some events are just too meaningful to put into words, and Proviscope has been such a gift for me during high school. Our meetings always put me in a good mood, and researching articles always energizes me. This paper has been the place where we pour out our hearts, share what’s important to us, and connect with the Providence community.
This year, I would especially like to thank Mrs. Harris, our moderator. I know this year has been difficult for you, Mrs. Harris, but thank you for always being there for us when we needed you. The BLC is a safe place for so many of us to be ourselves. Thank you for making Proviscope so special, and I’d like to wish you and next year’s staff good luck.
I would also like to congratulate our next editor, Celia Minonne, who has gone above and beyond this year, writing articles for every edition of the paper while also serving as president and founder of the Creative Writing Club. Celia, I know you’ll do a great job as editor. The future looks very bright for both Proviscope and Creative Writing Club.
Thank you to Sophia, LaSean, Laurel, and Abby, our new members this year. Thank you for the courage to join Proviscope, and to the juniors, I hope you’ll come back next year to keep making the Proviscope even better.
Finally, I’d like to thank my fellow seniors. Michael, Nicholas, Laurel, and LaSean, I wouldn’t have picked any other staff but you. You’re amazing, hardworking, and real, and you’re truly some of the best people I know. You’re going to do so many amazing things, both in college and in life, and I’m proud to say you’re my friends.
Proviscope means so much to me, and I hope it can flourish for many years after the current staff is gone. If I may shamelessly quote Hamilton, “What is a legacy? It’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.” Our legacy as Proviscope will be one of sharing our writing courageously, fostering a sense of community, and growing our creativity. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to be part of this.
