Now that both the early and regular application dates have passed, seniors are hearing back from the various colleges they applied to. Almost everyone in the class now knows the anxiety of opening their decision letters, the joy of being accepted, and the disappointment of not receiving the responses they had hoped for. Either way, though, colleges across the nation have made their decisions about the Providence class of 2026. Now it’s the seniors’ turn to make their decisions.
For the most part, schools expect to hear back from their accepted applicants by May 1. This leaves applicants about two more months to decide where they are going unless they have to make an earlier decision because of a special situation such as signing for a sport, accepting a scholarship, or having applied as a part of early decision, which involves signing a contract promising to attend if accepted. There are many factors seniors are now considering as they make their final college choices, narrowing down their top choices to one. Money, distance, program quality, and personal fit are some of the biggest considerations.
Either way, though, many seniors are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Whether they know exactly where they’re going or feel more confused than before, the hardest part of the process is over. Everyone’s hard work during their time at Providence has paid off. Students are without a doubt headed to some amazing places in the coming years. Now, the biggest question for seniors across the school is left in their own hands.
If you find yourself chatting with a senior in the coming months, ask them where they plan to attend college! If they’ve decided, they’ll probably tell you with a smile. If they haven’t, be prepared for an anxious “I don’t know.” There’s no doubt, though, Providence is incredibly proud of its seniors. Now, it’s time for them to start applying for scholarships and wishing the juniors good luck!
