School spirit is something the students make special at Providence and what makes our community come together. However, we can overlook school spirit and not realize it is more than just paying for dress down days or repping your school colors. True school spirit is about showing up, supporting one another, and creating a strong community. At Providence there are countless activities, sports, and events throughout the year, yet there isn’t enough support from all of us.
From games to club events, our student put in hours of effort preparing and practicing. However, the empty stands and low attendance can make these efforts feel unnoticed. School spirit isn’t just about representing your school; it is about supporting each other and showing love and appreciating all the hard work our community puts in. School spirit should be a staple at Providence showing truth, unity, and love from all students.
Being involved does not mean you have to attend every event or be the loudest person in the crowd. Even small actions like going to a volleyball game or attending a school play can make a huge difference. When students see their fellow classmates supporting them, it builds confidence, motivation, and a stronger sense of belonging within the school community.
School spirit can also create memories that last long even after high school ends. The student section chants, themed dress-up days, pep rallies, and packed gymnasiums are key moments that bring students together and make school more enjoyable. A stronger school community can help students feel more connected, welcomed, and proud to be part of Providence.
As students, we are all given the opportunity to help improve school spirit. Instead of waiting for others to show up first, we can take the initiative ourselves. By supporting club activities, inviting people to games, and going all out for spirit days, we set the tone for everyone else. The more energy and support we bring, the stronger our school community becomes.
At the end of the day, school spirit is not about popularity or appearance, it is about unity. It is about coming together to support one another and making every student feel valued. Providence has so much talent, dedication, and heart. Now it is up to us to show up and support it.
